DHAKA – US universities have been sending out emails to international students and members of staff to return to the US from their winter breaks before Donald Trump takes office as the US President on January 20.

Trump’s proposed policies imply cracking down on illegal immigration with his incoming administration saying violent criminals and national security threats will take priority for removal from the country. However, during Trump’s first term in office, travel bans were imposed on nationals from numerous Muslim countries, as well as North Korea and Venezuela, and proposals for limitations on student visas were also made. As a result, there is fear amongst international students about immigration and visas.
