ULAANBAATAR – The President of Mongolia, Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, has issued a decree to award the “Genghis Khan” Medal, the highest state honor, to Ban Ki-moon, the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations and head of the “Better Future for All” Foundation, on the occasion of the 862nd anniversary of the birth of Great Khan Genghis and the “Day of Mongolian Pride.”

This award recognizes his significant contributions to leading and promoting the Sustainable Development Goals, the Paris Agreement under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, and his steadfast efforts for global peace, human rights, justice, and equality. It also acknowledges his role in enhancing cooperation between Mongolia and the UN in environmental protection and accelerating green development.
