PETALING JAYA – Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal has denied the move to overthrow the government dubbed as “Sheraton Move 2.0”.

The Machang MP said that such a move was currently impossible, pointing towards the Opposition’s recent failed bid to reject a government motion in the Dewan Rakyat on May 25.

“It is not the right thing to do (planning to topple the government), we are committed to ensuring that the Opposition checks the government.

“How can we have a plan to make a ‘Sheraton Move 2.0’ when last week, we lost the vote in Parliament?

“The Opposition does not have the strength as feared by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,” he said as a guest in the “Keluar Sekejap” podcast.

At the Dewan Rakyat on May 25, proceedings were temporarily halted after the Opposition called for a bloc vote on a motion for Parliament not to adjourn until the disposal of two Bills as stated in the Order Paper.

However, the Opposition’s attempt to block the motion failed after Deputy Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor announced that 83 MPs agreed to proceed with the government’s business in the Order Paper, 52 MPs opposed, while 86 were absent, and one (Ramli) did not vote as he was chairing the session as the deputy speaker.
