Najib ‘very, very disappointed’ at not getting full pardon, says daughter Nooryana

Five days prior to the Board's decision, those around Najib had encouraged him to be patient as "it won't be long" and added that the disappointment felt by Najib may have been due to the reason that he may have to spend the next four to five years in jail.

PETALING JAYA – Datuk Seri Najib Razak is “very, very disappointed” at not getting a full pardon, says his daughter Nooryana Najwa Najib.

Nooryana – who is better known as Yana – said that this was what her father told her when she visited him in Sungai Buloh following the Pardons Board’s decision to commute his sentence rather than granting him a full pardon.

In an Instagram reel on Saturday (Feb 3), Nooryana recounted that Najib said;

“Disappointed, very very disappointed. You know Yana, the worst feeling is when you are in shock and there is no one to speak to. You are lost in your thoughts all alone.”

She said that this was what Najib told her, adding that he said this when she asked him about a piece of paper he was clutching.

The piece of paper was the Pardons Board’s decision on Friday (Feb 2) to commute Najib’s corruption jail term from 12 years to six.

Najib will be released on Aug 23, 2028 and the fine has been reduced to RM50mil from RM210mil.

Nooryana had said that her father was very hopeful of the outcome of the Pardons Board decision five days prior to the announcement of its conclusion.

She added that five days prior to the Board’s decision, those around Najib had encouraged him to be patient as “it won’t be long” and added that the disappointment felt by Najib may have been due to the reason that he did not get a full pardon and because he may have to spend the next four to five years in jail.

“His eyes looked tired. Maybe Daddy lacks sleep, pondering the decision which was made yesterday,” she added in her post.
