Mazaalai bear to be “Mongolian National Pride Animal”

ULAN BATOR – B.Bat-Erdene, the Minister of Environment and Tourism, posted on his social media “By the initiation of U.Khurelsukh, the President of Mongolia, Mazaalai, the Gobi bear in Mongolia, will be “Mongolian National Pride Animal”.

The population of Mazaalai bears has been increasing in recent years which is good news, and the ministry believes that it is necessary to implement further policies on population increase and protection. 

Zoologists said that Mazaalai bears do not live in pairs or in packs, and it is very rare they are seen in pairs. In order to determine the number of this animal, there is a method of determining the number by examining feces, and traces they left in nature. According to the latest census, there were 52 Mazaalai bears in Mongolia.
