‘Huge’ step for women’s cricket in Bangladesh as series sponsor deal sealed

DHAKA – The country’s one of the largest business conglomerates, Square Group, is set to be the title sponsor of Bangladesh women’s team’s upcoming home series against Ireland, consisting of three WODIs and as many WT20Is.

A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official confirmed the development to The Daily Star yesterday, saying that “it is a huge” step for Bangladesh’s women’s cricket, as for the first time, the board has been able to secure a deal for title sponsorship and ground rights for a home women’s series.

“We’ve previously communicated with some big companies for the women’s series but couldn’t crack any deal,” said the official, requesting anonymity, further informing that a women-centric product of Square Group will be promoted in the white-ball series, running from November 27 to December 9 in Dhaka and Sylhet.

The visitors are scheduled to arrive in the capital on November 22.
