HK stars offer acting training for the young in a reality show

BEIJING – A reality show that invites established figures in Hong Kong’s film industry including martial arts star Jackie Chan, director Tung-Shing Yee and actress Kara Wai to coach young actors and actresses has aired recently.

Hong Kong’s audio-visual services industry has a global reputation as a seedbed for many classic films and TV dramas that are able to garner a large group of viewers from varied cultural backgrounds. In the meantime, the industry practitioners are widely recognized for their professionalism and continuous efforts to improve themselves.

The reality show, Wu Xian Chao Yue Ban (directly translated as “infinite transcendence class”), aims to dig out the spiritual kernels of those classics from Hong Kong movies and TV dramas to spur on the younger generations, so as to create more possibilities for China’s film industry.

Young participants including actors Rong Zishan and Fan Shiqi as well as actresses Guo Xiaoting, Li Yitong and Shen Yue will go through intensive, strict acting-related trainings in the show.

With veterans being the role model, young actors and actresses are expected to be inspired and tap more potentials of themselves.

The reality show is co-produced by Zhejiang TV, the video-sharing platform Youku and Hong Kong television broadcaster TVB.
