KUANTAN – It is the last weekend before polling day for the 15th General Election and candidates in Pahang are scrambling to meet as many voters as possible.

Barisan Nasional’s Mentakab candidate Wong Tze Shiang had 10 engagements lined up for Sunday (Nov 13), which began with a stop at the World Walk to Stop Diabetes programme organised by the Lions Club.

Wong then had a walkabout at the Mentakab market where he met with voters.

“The voters I met are hoping for a change. So I told them, if you want change, choose a leader and a party that can serve the people or be able to take care of the people’s welfare like what Barisan has done for a long time,” he said.

Pakatan Harapan’s Kuantan candidate Fuziah Salleh also had a busy day, having walkabouts at the farmers’ market in front of the Urban Transformation Centre and in Tanjung Api as well as making a stop at the St Thomas Church together with Teruntum candidate Sim Chon Siang.

The incumbent Kuantan MP also attended two weddings.

Perikatan Nasional’s Indera Mahkota candidate Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah visited St Thomas Church as well to attend its family day carnival held in conjunction with the sixth World Day of the Poor.

“I am impressed by the church’s initiative in collecting donations to help flood victims and the poor regardless of faith, race and religion. We need to maintain community unity like this in addition to being concerned about the plight of people who need help,” he said.

Saifuddin also did not let go of the opportunity to meet with youths on Saturday (Nov 12) night when they were heading in to watch Black Panther at the cineplex at the East Coast Mall.
