Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin confirmed those injured were the ones who left Malaysia on Wednesday (Nov 6).
However, he did not divulge further details.
Meanwhile, Reuters reports that an Israeli strike on the southern Lebanese city of Sidon killed three Lebanese citizens and wounded three Lebanese soldiers and four Malaysian personnel from Unifil forces, the Lebanese army said on Thursday (Nov 7).
The strike targeted a car while it was passing a checkpoint, which led to the killing of the three Lebanese who were inside it, the army said in a statement.
The wounded soldiers had been serving at the checkpoint, while the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (Unifil) personnel hit were in a vehicle of the UN peacekeeping force that was passing through the checkpoint at the time, according to the army statement.
The Malbatt-12 squad consists of 854 officers and personnel being sent to Lebanon to relieve the current Malbatt 850-11 stationed there.
They are being sent to Lebanon in stages until Nov 18 with the first batch consisting of 220 personnel deployed on Wednesday.
