BEIJING – China is willing to facilitate regular exchanges between the government and enterprises to help bring the economic and trade relations with the United States back on a sound and stable development path, said Commerce Minister Wang Wentao on Friday.

China will further optimize its business environment and continue to provide high-quality services for foreign-invested enterprises, Wang said during a meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook in Beijing.

Mutually beneficial China-US economic and trade cooperation is in the fundamental interests of both countries and is an anchor of the bilateral ties, Wang said, stressing that overstretching the concept of national security does no good to normal economic and trade activities.

China welcomes Apple to seize the opportunities, continue to expand its presence in the Chinese market and maintain stable cooperation with Chinese partners to achieve mutual development, Wang added.

Cook said that Apple regards China as a crucial market and a key supply chain partner, and is dedicated to its long-term development in the country. Apple will continue to increase its investment in areas such as the supply chain and research and development in China.

Apple is willing to continue serving as a bridge in facilitating communication and exchanges in the China-US economic and trade field, Cook added.
