Belgian music fest Tomorrowland signs MOU with Thai partners, feasibility study continues

The study will help determine whether a Tomorrowland event in Thailand is feasible or not. If the festivities were held in the kingdom, it would be the fourth time the event had been organised outside of Belgium.

BANGKOK – The renowned Belgian music festival Tomorrowland has confirmed that it is studying the feasibility of organising a world-class event in Thailand in 2026.

Confirming that they have a strong interest in a festival in Thailand, the company said they are currently conducting a serious study, but the date, time, and venue are still in the feasibility study stage, and details have not yet been finalised.

Meanwhile, a government spokesperson has said that the private sector is rushing to look at the event space.

In a March 29 statement to Billboard, Tomorrowland’s representative, Debby Wilmsen, the head of public relations for the firm, said, “Tomorrowland has a real interest in Thailand and is seriously exploring the possibility of a festival in Thailand. For now, Tomorrowland is investigating the feasibility of the project and has signed an exclusive MOU agreement with a Thai private sector partner to conduct this study together.

“At this stage, there is no confirmation yet on an actual festival taking place; this is what the feasibility study will make clear.”

The study will help determine whether a Tomorrowland event in Thailand is feasible – or not.

The Tomorrowland statement also expressed its appreciation that the authorities are eager to welcome the festival.

If the festivities were held in the kingdom, it would be the fourth time the event had been organised outside of Belgium.

The update corresponds to a confirmation from Chai Wacharonke, the spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office on March 29, in which he stated that Tomorrowland’s spokesperson had said that they had not officially confirmed the event would take place in Thailand. This is because they are continuing the process of exploring locations and preparing for the event

However, the statement did not close the door on the possibility of organising the event in Thailand in the future.

The Thai government has been engaged in ongoing negotiations with Tomorrowland, making significant progress and moving in a positive direction. The government has communicated to the public that Thailand has a high chance of hosting this music festival in 2026.

Chai added, “The government has not previously announced reaching a contract agreement with Tomorrowland International. However, as negotiations progress positively, they have communicated with the public, which is not considered inappropriate given our private-sector approach to work.

“When negotiations can yield positive outcomes, the government must communicate the potential for positive developments, similar to how business negotiations are approached when trends are favourable. It’s essential to keep the team informed in such situations.”
